In preparation for the opening of classes for School Year (SY) 2024-2025, the Department of Education (DepEd) will conduct its annual school maintenance program, known as “Brigada Eskwela,” from July 22 to 27.
The conduct of the SY 2024-2025 Brigada Eskwela (BE) was outlined in DepEd Order No. 33, s. 2024, issued by DepEd Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Michael Wesley Poa last week.
With the theme “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan,” DepEd will conduct this year’s BE from July 22 to 27.
The National BE Kick-off Program will be held on July 17 at Carmen National High School in Cebu.
DepEd said regional and schools division offices may hold their advocacy activities in their areas to launch and campaign for Brigada Eskwela.
BE, as explained by DepEd, is a “nationwide school maintenance program that engages all education stakeholders to contribute their time, efforts, and resources to ensure that public schools are all set in time for school opening.”
DepEd said this year’s BE, like in previous years, is a “six-day event where local communities, parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private individuals, and even teachers and students volunteer their time and skills for the conduct of clean-ups, minor to medium repairs, and maintenance work in classrooms within the school sites.”
For this year’s conduct of BE, DepEd said proper advocacy and information will be undertaken to equip schools and their stakeholders.
The opening for SY 2024-2025 is set for July 29.
